RAINBOW BRIDGE   (OLD VERSION)

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated...

          The Rainbow Bridge
For those alone and without a friend in this life

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.  It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.  Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush, green grass.  When a beloved pet dies, the pet does to this place.  There is always food and water, and warm Spring weather.  Those old and frail are young again.  Those who have been maimed are made whole again.  They play all day with each other.
Some of them here are different.  They were beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.  They watch wistfully as their friends leave one by one, to cross the bridge with their special person.  For them there is no one, no special one.  Their time on Earth did not give them one.
But one day, as they run and play, they notice someone standing by the road to the bridge.  This person wistfully watches the reunions of friends, for in their life, they had no pet.  They were beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.
As they stand there alone, one of the unloved pets comes up to them, curious as to why this one is alone.  And as they get nearer to each other, a miracle occurs, for these are the ones who were meant to be together.  Their special person, their beloved pet, although on Earth  they never met.  With the meeting of two souls, the pain and sorrow disappear, and the two friends are together.
Then they cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated.

Companion animal rescue and Animal Control takes a very hard toll on those people that work with it day in and day out.  There is a constant reminder that there are more animals than good homes.  This page is our tribute to those animals that we could not help.  Be it from age, temperament, too much neglect from previous owners, or just plain not enough room for them all - the excuses seem so lame when we look back at the faces.  But yet, it's not our fault, we didn't abandon that dog, we didn't dump off that pregnant cat, yet we are the ones who feel the guilt of knowing we let them down, had we tried a little harder maybe they wouldn't have died or been euthanized...
We also hope that this page will be a reminder to pet owners to spay and neuter their pets.  These a just a few of the excess animals that are euthanized because there just aren't enough homes for them all.

Fear Biter
Old & Crabby
Aggressive to Children
Lack of training got them here, lack of room got them out...permanently
Parvo got these babies...they were vaccinated but someone brought in the disease and they were too young to fight it
Potential Fear Biter
Just not enough room

Very nice boy...but who wants a three-legged dog?
Another Parvo baby

These three boys were adopted, but died of parvo
All of the above cats and kittens died from a disease called Calicivirus.
The vaccination for calicivirus costs about $3, was saving that $3 worth all these babies dying?
Young, male, and little to no training....
It's a death warrant

Aggressive
Too old for most anyone to adopt..too bad their owners didn't look hard enough
Not enough room
This poor girl was afraid of everything...poor thing never got to experience a happy life
Not enough socialization, no vaccinations...these pups had no chance
These babies were sick when they got to the pound
This girl almost made it to a foster home...but was aggressive with everything
Parvo came to the pound and took away their chances...
